Taus Giving Advice

Life after college can be hard. Here is some advice Sistaus have left behind for you to keep in mind.

Victoria Hypolite Alpha Gamma Class, Alpha Chapter

Advise for Taus: Don't wait for opportunities, seek them out and create them by talking to/keeping in touch with coworkers, bosses, professors, and friends.

Don't be surprised if your jobs after college aren't related to your major, you have plenty of time to tailor your career to what you want to do. And remember that it is OKAY to change your mind (many times, and with all things). Try to confidently embrace it!

Enjoy everything, make memories, and take photos. Seriously, the years immediately following graduation felt like they zoomed by. Don't lose yourself in the hubbub.

Breathe, rest and relax and be proud of yourself for what you've accomplished so far!

Yesenia Cruz Rho Class, Gamma Chapter

Advice for Taus: Make time for the things that make you happy. Don’t let a job get in the way of doing what you love.

Mackenzie Greeley Phi Class, Beta Chapter

Advice for Taus: For any Tau who is unsure about their future I recommend you look for your why. Your why is the reason you are motivated to work hard and push yourself to overcome any challenges. A why can address any part of your life; whether it’s your career, family, or identity. Once you know your why, then you will truly feel grounded and feel a sense of direction not only within the organization but in navigating life.

Advise for Taus: Yes, you've graduated, doesn't mean you need to have your future all planned out. Explore your options, your likes, find yourself. You have time, so just make sure you’re doing something and enjoy what you're doing.

Advice for Taus: As a sisTau that has been out of school for now 6 years, it’s been a wild ride seeing what the real world is about. One major thing I have learned from working in the real world is that what I learned as a Ladybug is applicable to the real world- play to your strengths and adapt to the constant changing of your environment. The strengths I have I learned to hone as an undergrad with the help of my sisters. Taking notes and learning how other Ladybugs have used their learned skills and strengths and applying what I could for my own self. And although I am not in school anymore, or around the safety net of being with my sisters almost 24/7, I have learned that my sisters will always be there no matter what because it is true that it’s not just 4 years, it is forever. My besties now are my sisters that were with me during undergrad! We are passing through different paths in life but that doesn’t stop us from staying connected. Together, we have adapted to our environments and have become powerhouses in our respective fields. Reality keeps me on my toes but I can always count on my sisters to keep me grounded.
